BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is a calculation of the amount of calories your body requires to maintain its current weight, and all of its bodily functions including vital organs. You then take this number and add calories based on your activity level. 

BMI (Body Mass Index) is based on your height and weight. Health professionals use this as a tool to gauge your weight class. People with higher BMI's have higher risk of health problems.
